Lens Queries
Q. How to select the lens material?
A.

Now a days mostly people use only fiber lens for safety issues. So we prefer to use only fiber lens for full & half rim frames.
But if you are buying a Rimless frame then we personally recommend you the MR8 or PC(Polycarbonate) lens which are highly impact resistant.

Q. Which type of lens coating you can provide?
A.

Our entire lenses have the Scratch resistance coating that makes them more durable against scratches.

Apart from this we offer different types of coating such as:

Anti-reflection (Anti-Glare) coating: The lens without this coating has reflection of almost 20% light from the lens surface that reduces our vision & we suffer from stress & strain. With the help of AR coating, the reflection of light from the lens surface is minimized with which our vision becomes clear, sharper & stress free. Also it looks good cosmetically. We strongly recommend this coating for the computer user.

Anti-smudge coating: With the help of this coating we can easily clean our lens without any hard efforts.

Anti-static coating: This coating will reduce the attraction of dust on lens. With this the cleaning of lens can be minimized and the life of lens is increased.

Hydrophobic coating: This coating helps to reduce the water droplets on the lens. Especially during monsoon season with the help of this coating we can have a clear vision during rain.

Anti-Fog coating: This coating clears the fog formation on our lens within fractions of second.

Transition lens gets dark & light according the exposure of sunlight. These lens are specially recommend for people who don’t want to switch their spectacles & sunglass.

UV protection lens protects our eyes from harmful UV light. Generally we include this property in our Polycarbonate lens.

Q. Which lens coating should I use?
A.

If you are using computer from more than 3 hours then we specially recommend you the AR coating.
If you want the benefits of AR, Anti-smudge, Anti-static, Hydrophobic coating in one, then you can go for the Crizal coating.
If you want to add the UV protection, then you can go for Crizal Forte UV or the Polycarbonate lens.

Q. What is the difference between bifocal & progressive lens?
A.

Bifocal & Progressive lens are used for people having near & distance vision problem. By using Bifocal lens only distance & near power is corrected.
While Progressive lens corrects all the vision between near & distance. So it is also known as Multifocal or No-line bifocal lens. Normally both bifocal & progressive lens requires around one week for adaptation.

Prescription Queries
Q. Is the prescription for contact lens and spectacles different?
A.

Yes. The prescription for Contact lens & Spectacle is different according to the power.
You can find the table for comparison of Spectacle & CL power at www.

Q. How to read my prescription?
A.

Generally we use Right & Left term for eye prescription in India but in foreign countries they call it as OD (Oculus Dextrus) for right eye & OS (Oculus Sinister) for left eye.

The prescription of a patient contains different terms: Spherical (Sph), Cylindrical (Cyl), & Axis for both the eyes. These factors can be different for each eye depending on the eye.

Spherical (Sph): The Spherical power can be + or – depending on the correction needed by the patient. The number can be small like 0.25 or it can be large like 10 depending on the correction. Higher the number, stronger the prescription lens required & the curve required also increases.

Cylindrical (Cyl): Generally this power occurs due to the irregular shape of cornea. This defines the amount of astigmatism that patient is having. If this box is empty it means there is no astigmatism in your eye & no cylindrical power is required. Mostly the Cylindrical power is between 0.25 to 4.00D.

Axis: The direction in which astigmatism is present is represented by Axis. If a patient is having cylindrical power then Axis should always be mentioned. Axis defines at what angle your cylindrical power to be fitted to have a clear vision.

PD: i.e. Pupillary Distance. The distance between two pupil is called PD. Normally it is between 55 to 75 mm.

The prescription is mostly in three formats as mentioned below:-

NOTE: These are just examples for your understanding. Your power wont be the same as mentioned.

Example 1:

Right
(OD)
Sph Cyl Axis PD   Sph Cyl Axis PD Left
(OS)
-1.0D -2.0D 170o 31.5 Distance +2.5D -1.0D 10o 30.5
ADD 2.50D Near ADD 2.50D

In this example the near power is written in the form of ADD, which means addition to your distance power. In this your distance power is -1.0D/-2.0D x 170o for right eye. So its near power will be addition of 2.5D to its distance that is +1.5D/-2.0D x 170o. Your distance power is +2.5D/-1.0D x 10 o for left eye. So its near power will be addition of 2.5D to its distance i.e. +5.0D/-1.0D x 10 o

Example 2:

Right
(OD)
Sph Cyl Axis PD   Sph Cyl Axis PD Left
(OS)
-1.0D -2.0D 170o 31.5 Distance +2.5D -1.0D 10o 30.5
+1.5D -2.0D 170o Near +5.0D -1.0D 10o

In this example your near power is directly written. So no calculation is required. Remember that the Cyl & Axis always remains same for distance & near power.

In the above-mentioned example power is same only the writing format is different.

This type of prescription will be of people having bifocal or varifocal power. The age group of above 40 has such power.

Example 3:

Right
(OD)
Sph Cyl Axis PD   Sph Cyl Axis PD Left
(OS)
-1.0D -2.0D 170o 31.5 Distance +2.5D -1.0D 10o 30.5
      Near

Right
(OD)
Sph Cyl Axis PD   Sph Cyl Axis PD Left
(OS)
      31.5 Distance       30.5
+1.5D -2.0D 170o Near +5.0D -1.0D 10o

In this example the patient has only single vision power. The patient is having either distance or near vision problem.
